Is there an age limit?

We are open to all high school age teenagers. If you have questions about our age limits, please give us a call at the CR cell phone 850-495-4492.

How long is Orientation? Do I need to bring anything?

Orientations take place on Mondays from 3:30-5:30pm. Orientation is at the CR Center, 1000 College Blvd, Building 98. Each orientation lasts approximately two hours. At the orientation, teens learn more about Chain Reaction’s different service projects, our Standards of Excellence, how to use the Chain Reaction Portal, and decide on their service goals. Parents are more than welcome to stay to view their parent guide and ask questions, otherwise drop them off and pick them up within the hour.

Is there a membership fee? Do you offer financial aid?

Membership fees are $100 for new members and renewing members. We understand that not all families may be able to afford the membership fee so we ask that families pay what they can with a $20 minimum fee and CR seeks donations to cover the rest.

Is there a cut off for Membership?

No. We are accepting membership enrollment all year, unless we reach our capacity of 300 members.

Can I bring my friends?

We would love for you to bring your friends, so they too can make an impact beyond themselves. The first time is free so they can try it out!

How much time do I have to commit to Chain Reaction?

As much time as you want. Just know you get out what you put in. It is an investment that pays big dividends in the future.

When will I be able to log in to the online system and log my hours?

Once you have created your profile on the CR Portal, you should be able to access your service hours. Keep in mind, they do not show up until you have responded to a service opportunity, completed the service opportunity, and a staff member has checked you in. If you see any issues with your logged hours, please contact us! Email info@mychainreaction.org or call 850-471-4685.

My parent/guardian wants to get more involved, how can they?

We are currently developing adult volunteer opportunities, but we can always use financial support. We would love for parents to always be CR Advocates by promoting our services and spreading word about Chain Reaction.

What are Chain Reaction center hours?

Chain reaction follows the Escambia County school calendar. The CR center is closed to teens during Escambia County holidays. The only difference is we are open ALL summer, though our hours change.

School Year Hours: CR Administrative Office is open 9:00am to 3:00pm M-F. CR Center for teens is open 3:30pm to 5:30pm M-F. Summer Hours: CR Administrative Office is open 8:30am to 4:00pm M-F. CR Center for teens is open 12:00pm to 2:00pm M-F.
